If you’re unfamiliar, Myrath is a progressive/power metal group located in Tunisia, which is located in the Maghreb region of North Africa. Since their formation in 2001 (originally titled X-Tazy until a name change in 2005), the band has been exploring stylistic fusion in the realm of metal. The act’s accolades include opening for Led Zeppelin‘s Robert Plant, Dream Theater, and Symphony X as well as previously releasing five LPs.
The band recently announced their upcoming sixth album, Shehili, which is set to be released on May 3rd via earMUSIC. The record was mixed by three different producers: Kevin Codfert (Adagio keyboardist), Eike Freese (Dark Age frontman), and Jens Bogren (Opeth, Sepultura, Between the Buried and Me producer, mixer, mastering engineer). Myrath revealed the album’s first single “Dance” back in December, but have now unveiled the next track titled “No Holding Back.” You can check out the music video for the string-driven song below. While the composition and instrumentation is undoubtedly unique, I couldn’t help but draw comparisons to Orphaned Land‘s most recent release. Nonetheless, the single has a graceful flow and extremely catchy melodies aplenty. Lastly, Myrath are planning a headliner tour for late 2019, but will be included in this year’s Wacken Open Air in Germany and Sweden Rock.
