Beastwars are planning to release their fourth LP titled IV this June. The release will likely revolve around vocalist Matt Hyde’s recent recovery from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Hyde stated, “Throughout the treatment I was numb. It’s interesting to have the ability to confront that, to confront the void, to confront the idea of mortality. I didn’t make peace with it either. I was lucky that I had music to express what had happened to me. A lot of people don’t have that. I was very lucky that we could make a record. I took the time to process it and turned it into something else.
As we await the upcoming album, the New Zealand-based sludge metal act revealed a single called “Omens,” which will shake you to the bone. The distorted groove is as powerful as classic Kyuss and the vocals are so raw and impactful. Check out the lyric video below.
