Dividing the Element

Dividing the Element is a metal band based in Harare, Zimbabwe holding a lineup of Chris “Mandebvu” Van (vocals, guitar), Archie “Carrion” Chikoti (guitar), Mat Sanderson (bass), and Nick “Newbz” Newbery (drums). They formed in 2012 and later dropped their debut self-titled album in 2018.

More recently, the group put out a new single titled “Pakaipa,” sung in the main Zimbabwean language, Shona. It’s difficult to categorize the subgenre of the piece, but there’s elements of groove, nu, folk, and death metal somewhat alike early Soulfly. Check out the new single below.
