From Hokkaido in Japan, folk / melodic death metal act Gyze had released four full-length studio albums, until this year when the group reformed under the new title Ryujin. Now signed to Napalm Records, the project will be releasing their self-titled record, produced by Trivium‘s Matt Heafy, on January 12th, 2024.
Ryujin has recently unveiled a taste of the upcoming album with the new single and video for “Raijin & Fujin,” a fantastical mesh of melodeath, power metal, and an oriental twist due to the usage of erhu, shamisen, and dragon flute. The new piece also features Heafy providing further guitar and vocals. The band are wrapping up their European tour supporting Pain, Ensiferum, and Eleine.
Ryujin tour dates:
11/9 – Leipzig, DE – Hellraiser
11/10 – Hamburg, DE – Gruenspan
11/11 – Berlin, DE – Columbia Theater
11/12 – Stuttgart, DE – Im Wizemann
