From Pune in India, Dark Helm is a progressive death metal act consisting of bassist Shubhrayu De and guitarist Mohanish Deshmukh. While the duo would appeal to Rivers of Nihil, Cynic, or even Fallujah fans internationally, the group is also proud of their local scene’s roots. Their latest single pays tribute to the recently passed away vocalist Ajinkya Joshi, member of Indian metal projects What Google Can’t Find and Amongst Denied.
Shubhrayu notes that Ajinkya was a close friend of the band since 2011, and even shared the stage with him as well as collaborated for a couple Lamb of God covers. “Sever” is a warm tribute to the unfortunate loss of Ajinkya, flexing the duality of metal music, equally intense and cathartic.
The track features Sunneith Revankar of Undying Inc, Bhayanak Maut, and Shipperman notoriety, providing some undeniable, earthy growls.
