Back in 2015, frontman Siyanor [-13] (Nikan Khosravi) and sample artist Chemical (Arash Ilkhani) of the Tehran-based act Confess were jailed for “expressing anti-religious and anti-regime sentiments” via thrashy groove metal. Upon bail, they migrated to Turkey, then Norway.
In recent years, the band has found their footing in Europe, touring alongside Nile, Belphegor, Malevolent Creation, etc. It seems that their trek with US tech-death metallers Nile was a perfect pairing considering their drummer George Kollias is now starring on Confess‘ upcoming record. Destination Addiction drops on January 31st, and also features guitarist Marzi Montazeri (Exmortus) as well as mixing / mastering by the Grammy-nominated Alberto De Icaza (Crossfaith, Upon a Burning Body).
You can test out the band’s mesh of groove, thrash, and death metal on their latest, “Slaughterhouse,” for fans of Sepultura, Gojira, or Warbringer.
