Album of the Month (Bronze Tier)

Fiasko
AMOK ꓘOMA
Self-Released
Poland
Mastered by Haldor Grunberg (Behemoth, Thaw), a sophomoric offering by the Warsaw blackened sludge quartet is unforgiving. Tasting like basement mold, the eight tracks on AMOK ꓘOMA bitterly circle the cycle of love and death. It’s full of pensive doom-laden dread and anger, perfect for an approaching winter depression. Fiasko are heavy as lead poison here, while also leaving smoky post-rock atmospheres throughout the chokehold of noise and riffs.
AMOK ꓘOMA by Fiasko is awarded Best Album of the Month (Bronze Tier) for November 2024
Favorite Songs: “Tarantyzm,” “Ciało obce,” “VII krąg”
FFO: Primitive Man, Acid Bath, Intronaut
Album of the Month (Silver Tier)

Spineless
Dysphonia
Released via Submersion Records
Greece
Led by vocalist-keyboardist Chrysa Tsaltampasi, Spineless is harnessing experimental pop-industrial from Thessaloniki in Greece. The new record Dysphonia is a follow-up to Speaking of Chaos and Relative Peace, doubling down on the atmospheric post-metal and graceful shoegaze density. Churning with minimalism, one can easily get allured in and lost from the opener “Justice” to closing piece “Never Ending Story.”
Dysphonia by Spineless is awarded Best Album of the Month (Silver Tier) for November 2024
Favorite Songs: “Disease,” “Justice,” “Me”
FFO: Lingua Ignota, Chelsea Wolfe, Trent Reznor

The Fall of Creation
“Dance of Death“
Russia
Overflowing in rich visuals, the new video for “Dance of Death” alludes ancient violence and mythology, to the tune of CKY-meets-In Flames. Directed by Vladimir Lem and inspired by Lars von Trier, each scene is framed like a grandiose renaissance masterpiece painting, dripping in emotion and suggestion. From Eve biting the bleeding apple to the melodic death / metalcore riffs, this single and visuals has me immediately interested in checking out their recently unveiled Enlightenment album.

Patriarkh “Wierszalin IV“
Poland
Bartek Krysiuk (БАТЮШКА) is bringing the newly named Patriarkh to the front of the stage with the most artsy blackened doom metal haste. Last month, we were blessed with the signature Eastern Orthodox mass visuals on the “Wierszalin III” music video, and the latest “Wierszalin IV” doubles down on the dark, folksy, religious heaviness.

Within Destruction “Kanashibari“
Slovenia
Effortlessly bridging the gap between slam deathcore and anime melodic metalcore, Within Destruction have been awfully prolific, following up recent killer singles “Demon Child” and “Animetal” with the paralysis demon-themed “Kanashibari,” harnessing King 810 to Silent Planet.
