The Best Metal Singles of February 2025 – New Zealand Metalcore, Hungarian Death-Thrash, Russian Modern

Ok, it’s pretty clear; there’s venom in the air of the metal community this year. So many singles have been beyond vicious, from New Zealand and Hungary to Russia.

We’ve curated the most notable singles that dropped in February…

Bronze Tier: Metal Single of the Month – February 2025

Fallcie

“No More”

Released via darkTunes

Based in Saint Petersburg, Russia

Fronted by dynamic vocalist Maria Balyasova, Fallcie balances between modern metalcore polished melodies and extreme pummeling. The Russian five-piece have toured alongside the Moldovan progcore act Infected Rain as well as death metallers Vader from Poland and Defiled of Japan. While still on their path towards full international breakthrough success, Fallcie‘s murderous new single “No More” paints promise for greatness.

Silver Tier: Metal Single of the Month – February 2025

Atrox Trauma

“I am the Master (Burning Desire)”

Released via WormHoleDeath Records

Based in Hungary

Everything you’d expect from a modern death-thrash group, the Hungarian quartet executes magnificently. Halfway through the new single, drummer Gergely Győri transitions into a stunning, high-magnitude tribal breakdown – one of the heaviest moments in international metal so far this year. Atrox Trauma‘s upcoming album Where Death Hunts is dropping in April; you can catch them live this Summer in Austria at Kaltenback Open Air with Marduk, Tankard, Inquisition, Hate, Panzerfaust, etc.

FFO: Sepultura, Nile, Vader

Gold Tier: Metal Single of the Month – February 2025

Alien Weaponry

“1000 Friends”

Released via Napalm Records

Based in Waipu, New Zealand

The hype for the Māori groove-folk metal act’s third full-length album is serious. Their debut was pioneering, the follow-up Tangaroa was even better, and now Te rā is set to be potentially Alien Weaponry‘s best. I loved the distinct indigenous-fusion in last month’s “Mau Moko” single, but the recent “1000 Friends” takes a wholly different approach, rooted solely in mid-2000’s radio-friendly metalcore. Personally, I prefer the trio’s original sound, but they actually knock this out of the park as well; genuinely, a catchy banger. Also, some stellar visuals in the video directed by Alex Hargreaves.

FFO: Avenged Sevenfold, Wage War, Shepherds Reign
