Infusing trap and J-pop with nü-metalcore, the Slovenian trio Within Destruction‘s new Animetal record is undeniably modern and distinct. Although we crowned the release as Album of the Month, this new material is worthy of further praise.
Set in potentially Tokyo (I genuinely am not positive where this was exactly filmed), the Sumerian Records-signed act are surrounded by street race cars running donuts around their performance of “Hide & Sick,” dripping in Bring Me the Horizon or Northlane allure. Both heavy and melodic, director Shun Murakami captures the group’s neon cyberpunk aesthetic perfectly.
