The Summer season is heating up, and so is metal music on a global scale. There were solid choices aplenty, yet these three were the most notable, across Latin America.
Bronze Tier: Metal Single of the Month – July 2025

All Misery
“The Stars Don’t Bleed”
Self-released
Based in Durango, Mexico
You know the old trope that deathcore is all breakdowns? Well, let’s be honest; that’s the appeal. Brutal, symphonic deathcore five-piece All Misery deliver a relentless barrage of head-bop heaviness with vocalist Mermek Avitia pig squeal and growling impressively through four minutes of tasteful, mosh-inducing insanity. This lead single is a warm endorsement of the upcoming Black Star in Existence album.
FFO: Lorna Shore, Shadow of Intent, Whitechapel
Silver Tier: Metal Single of the Month – July 2025

Moths
“Envy”
Self-released
Based in San Juan, Puerto Rico
Continuing the seven deadly sins theme of pre-singles from their upcoming Septem record, “Envy” shows Moths flexing their bluesy and weird vulnerability. Mariel Viruet’s sweet and sour vocal delivery pairs well over the group’s prog-sludge rabbit hole, mastered by Jens Bogren (Between the Buried and Me, Opeth). All together, this track is certainly off-kilter, but seductive and addictive nonetheless.
FFO: Baroness, Royal Thunder, Helms Alee
Upcoming album ‘Septem’ is available on Bandcamp and CD
Gold Tier: Metal Single of the Month – July 2025

Mawiza
“Ti Inan Paw-Pawkan” ft. Joe Duplantier
Released via Season of Mist
Based in Mapuche Nation, Chile
In 2021, the French groove metal band Gojira released their most recent album – Fortitude, featuring the (“boingy-woingy jaw harp, throat singing, and woodwind”) single “Amazonia.” In 2021, the Chilean indigenous folk-groove metal band Mawiza formed. It feels like fate that Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier would reach Mawiza – enter “Ti Inan Paw-Pawkan,” an obliterating masterpiece collaboration of rebellion and nature. The Mapuche Nation oughta be proud of this hit honoring them.
FFO: Gojira, The Hu, Tengger Cavalry
New album ‘ÜL’ on Bandcamp, CD, vinyl
