Chinese Metalcore Act LIFE AWAITS Teams Up With Aaron of UNDEROATH & Valorant FPS Video Game

Just celebrating their 10 Year Anniversary shows in Shanghai and Guangzhou, Life Awaits is certainly one of the more notable Chinese metalcore acts in the modern scene. Across their career, the group has shared the stage with Jinjer, Crossfaith, Loathe, Crystal Lake, Novelists, and more.

Last month, the Beijing-based four-piece (Yu Bai, Jing Zhang, Chauncy Wong, Nan Zhang) collaborated with Underoath drummer/vocalist Aaron Gillespie on their new single “Paper Plane.”

The track boasts nostalgia with elements of radio-friendly emo melodies, yet contemporary electronic flair. It’s overflowing with dreamy desperation, and perfect for your sad, angsty playlist.

“The scars I tried to keep to myself begin to grow within. I don’t know why, I don’t know how to amend. I dreamed for so long, I’m losing track of reality; So push me off the edge and let my fears fall.”

The “Paper Plane” music video was directed by H4T (洪四蹄).

More recently, Life Awaits teamed up with Bionicle-inspired Venezuelan artist Essenger and Swedish heavy-synthwave producer F.O.O.L. (Fuck Our Ordinary Lives) for the theme song “You Call Me Reckless,” for the Valorant eSports Champions Tour. It’s an energetic banger mixing electronica and metalcore, with both English and Chinese vocals.

Life Awaits is also scheduled to support I See Stars in Bangkok alongside Thai openers Defying Decay and Keyne as well as Filipino act ORCA on October 26th.
