Paralleling the rise of the post-black metal scene, Ex:Gris guitarist Santiago Escobar and bassist / vocalist Juan Pablo Giraldo formed this Medellín-based project in 2012, right before Deafheaven‘s subgenre-defying Sunbather. While there was a huge hiatus between formation and their new single, “Until We Bloom” it is as strong as the aforementioned post-black metal godfathers – Deafheaven.
Now with a lineup expansion including vocalist Andrés ‘Artema’ Gil, guitarist Andrés Bermúdez, and drummer Sergio Álvarez, the single gathers Ghost Bath and Opeth influence as well. The Colombian group black group continue to mix black metal and post-rock on the upcoming EP Interregno, dropping late this year.
