I Just Discovered This Bear-Masked Russian Thrashcore Band – SIBERIAN MEAT GRINDER

Somehow, I’ve missed two and a half decades of bear-themed thrash-hardcore hailing from the cold streets of Moscow. Fronted by an infamous mask-donning character who goes by the moniker Vladimir the Grand Tormentor, Siberian Meat Grinder has churned out singles, EPs, and albums across their career, including the albums Metal Bear Stomp and Join the Bear Cult.

In a modern age of masked and conceptual bands like Slaughter the Prevail, Gaerea, The Bunny The Bear, and even Sleep Token, this group’s look and feel fits in perfectly. Additionally, their thrash-infused hardcore style meshes quite well with the recent metallic hardcore revival phase alongside Drain or Sunami.

Siberian Meat Grinder are currently wrapping up a European tour, performing experimental and hyped up crossover thrash to German, Czech, Austrian, French, Dutch, and Polish crowds as well as supporting Decapitated in Slovenia. Here’s to hoping for more bear headbanging music soon.
