Hér (Icelandic for “here”) hails from Gdańsk in north Poland. Layers of heavy jazz and Nordic folk music, they debut their vulnerable, contemporary music on the upcoming full-length record titled Monochrome, officially out on January 30th via Season of Mist.
The five piece’s first reveal, “Needles and Bark” was quite moving, showing off a Mark Lanegan somber minimalism combatting Shining or Heilung layered atmospheres. Maciej Świniarski hypnotically sings out mantras like “the pine on the rocks dries and dies” or “why should he live long?” in a meditative state. The entirety is cold, cathartic, poetic, and experimental.
