It’s About Time Metal Showcased the Strength of Samoans

Pioneering Polynesian metal, Shepherds Reign has had me on a leash since their album –  Ala Mai. As crushing as Gojira and Sylosis, with cultured roots alike Alien Weaponry, this South Auckland act deserves to go global.

Their new single “TOA” carves evidence of Samoan strength, particularly through the charged vocals and growls by Filiva’a. The track is undeniable, and could easily move the heads of an entire arena.

They recently played on the Shiprocked cruise alongside Avatar, Knocked Loose, Halestorm, and many others, but I’m praying that Mastodon or Soufly brings them on tour in the near future.
