Undoubtedly, hardcore is back – noting the monumental rise of Knocked Loose, Turnstile, Kublai Khan, Drain, Speed, etc. across the recent handful of years. But… what is the hardcore scene looking like in Japan?
KLONNS have infiltrated the underground Tokyo scene, cranking out noisy mosh tracks that have the chaos of late 80’s New York. The group have actually been around for a decade, and are celebrating their ten years of existence with a new album titled GAMES.
Opening tracks “PLEDGE,” “FALSE,” and “PARASITE” are as pissed off as peak Minor Threat or Agnostic Front. While truly hardcore to the core, the nineteen visceral minutes on this new record could easily appeal to crusty, thrasheads and hipsters donning some Eyehategod, Venom, and Iron Reagan battlejacket patches.
