Based out of Moscow in Russia, Kartikeya consists of Anton Mars (vocals) and Roman Arsafes (instruments, backing vocals). Their style is rooted in extreme progressive metal while holding Middle Eastern musical influences in an overall fusion they deem Dharmic metal. Last month, they out out an EP titled Emeralds, which features an original track as well as covers from Devin Townsend, Bruno Mars, and Metallica.
If you’re not yet intrigued, you can give the title track a listen now below. The stylistic direction brings a modern prog approach to acts like Orphaned Land or Myrath, while holding an impressive balance between melody and sheer heaviness.
