Slowly gaining popularity in the black metal and avant-garde communities across the past two decades, mastermind Tamás Kátai has now prepared Thy Catafalque‘s eleventh record Alföld in honor of the the great plains in southeast Hungary. While this currently Budapest-based project has slowly evolved from raw, yet experimental aggression to more folksy and ambient variations, the latest record is easily his most equally accessible and progressive.
The opener on the upcoming release, “A csend hegyei,” revels in brooding darkness, featuring Lambert Lédeczy (vocals; Ahriman, Mörbid Carnage) as well as Breno Machado (guitar). Alföld releases on June 16th via Season of Mist.
