Last year, the Kraków-based project Killsorrow unveiled their post-apocalyptic themed record titled Wasteland Chronicles, inspired by the likes of Avenged Sevenfold or In Flames as well as aesthetically aligned with Fallout and Mad Max.
In the “Home Sweet Home” video, we are introduced to the concept album’s characters – a father and daughter duo at The Last of Us-level desperation, played by Kajetan Wolniewicz and Gabriela Tran Van respectively. Through a mishmash of a groove and melodic death metal, the radioactive quintet build tension for the reveal of the Wasteland Chronicles’ devious villain (Stanisław Ościłowski).
Bringing a more progressive angle, the second visual pairing arrives as “Parasite Symphony,” featuring vocalist Patrycja Duda. While the video’s plot remains fairly vague, the suspense remains high as the daughter is kidnapped by the unnamed villain, who is quite fond of drinking, smoking, and a certain mysterious serum. The single’s Haken-anthemic stride is a lovely change of pace when sandwiched between the aggression of the two other singles.
“Straight to Hell” concludes Killsorrow‘s dystopian universe with a dramatic assassination. If you’re fond of the theatrics by Avatar or Gwar, definitely check this project out.
