Experience the Existential Power Lust & Consequences of the Russian Invasion via Blackened Hardcore: “Hands of Desire” by SOCIASYLUM [Estonia]

With their roots in a more power-violence sound, the Tallinn-based act Sociasylum leans towards a blackened hardcore style in their latest EP titled Harmony of Discordance, merging Converge, Wolf King, and Portrayal of Guilt.

Guitarist Eduard Aranson spoke on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as a main thematic influence on the EP: “The lyrics of the EP deal with people being under the influence of propaganda and following blindly idolized leaders, holding materialistic values higher than the value of peace and struggle to survive, while the surrounding society chooses to ignore the pain.”

In the lead single “Hands of Desire,” vocalist Mihail Makoshin laments our modern greed with the screamed phrase: “Judgment of this age will be left to posterity, while buried under a mass of ash and dust.” You can now watch the beautifully choreographed video for the aforementioned song, starring a numerous amount of actors and dancers.
