From the same city that birthed Baroque composer Grzegorz Gerwazy Gorczycki emerges an eccentric music project. The Bytom-based Mushroom Land unveiled their debut album titled Pharmachrists earlier this year, shining a light towards the negativities of psychiatry’s relationship with pharmacy.
In a recent interview with Transcending the Mundane, composer Karol Sowa elaborated on his background as “a schizophrenic who has broken through the psychiatric system.” Collaborating with producer Andriy Yanyuk, the aforementioned 15-track collection conjured a genuinely experimental fusion of blackened-doom alt-metal. It’s truly hard to draw accurate comparisons, but there’s likely influences spanning from Mushroomhead and Mr. Bungle as well as Katatonia or King Diamond.
