I had concerns that the slowed momentum during their brief hiatus to focus on Ukraine would ruin their trajectory, yet recent events have proven the band’s resilience.
Earlier this month, the progressive act dropped “Someone’s Daughter,” with the band’s usual dynamics and stellar grooves. Does it have the replay value of previous bangers “Teacher, Teacher” or “Judgement (& Punishment)”? Definitely not. Nonetheless, I dig the No Doubt vocal flair and Meshuggah-core rhythmic chaos.
As we approach their forthcoming fifth record, Jinjer collaborated with Audiotree to record a conversation and performance, revolving around their creativity. What became the From Nothing mini-documentary is a compelling glimpse into the project’s story.
