BLOODYWOOD Rips Their Indian Roots Out in Cultured & Cameo-Filled Banger Single “Nu Delhi”

Classical Indian instrumentation rings out, infused with heaviness, in the New Delhi-based Bloodywood’s comeback single. “Nu Delhi” is the folk-groove, modern metal act’s first material since their 2022 debut record Rakshak.

Jayant Bhadula’s vocal delivery is perfect here, subdued, yet distinct and cut-throat. He commands “try not to lose your temper, this city tests everyone, a home to both saints and sinners alike, this is not a city, this is a game of chess (तो भड़क, भड़क, भड़क, भड़क ना यहां, सनक, सनक, सनक, सनकता जहां, रहे संत या रहे पिशाच, शहर नही शतरंज बिसात है)” like a righteous sermon. Similarly, Raoul Kerr’s signature political-optimist rap for the proletariat acknowledges the social class disparity in the system, and simultaneously flexes the message for resilience within unity.

While perhaps not as immediately catchy as previous singles “Gaddar” or “Dana Dan”, “Nu Delhi” is a more rich, genuine presentation of Bloodywood’s identity., thanks to multi-instrumentalist Karan Katiyar’s brilliant composition. The single proves the band’s stamina and credibility as metal pioneers, particularly in how they’ve innovated an Indian folk-fusion with an inspiring alt / rap-metal sound.

Cameos include keyboardist Subir Malik (Parikrama), YouTubers Karl Rock and Fing, vocalist Shashank Bhatnagar (Inner Sanctum), and rapper Encore ABJ
