THE ANIMATED BABYMETAL & BLOODYWOOD COLLABORATION: J-Pop Meets Indian Folk-Groove Metal on “Bekhauf”

Two forces strongly representing their country in the international metal world – the Tokyo-based J-Pop-metal fusion entity Babymetal and the groovy, folksy, heavy act of Bloodywood, hailing from New Delhi.

While extremely unexpected, the collaboration behind both pioneering projects was perhaps… inevitable.

“Bekhauf” contains the upbeat anime energy of vocal trio Su-metal, Moametal, and Momometal, while merging with traditional Indian musicalities, with utmost heaviness. Directed by Debjyoti Saha, the visuals for the new single provoke Avatar: The Last Airbender as well as Devilman Crybaby.

Babymetal have been making appearances all over after the release of 2023’s The Other One as well as “Metali!!” featuring Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine) and “Ratatata” with Electric Callboy, while Bloodywood are on their comeback arc via the recent “Nu Delhi” single, Expect a Riot documentary, and a Japanese tour.
