From throat singing to lutes and fiddles, Inner Mongolia-based act Nine Treasures paved the way for the international success of other Mongolian or Chinese folk metal acts like The Hu and Tengger Cavalry. Whether it be the success of the aforementioned bands or the need for a fresh start, founding frontman Askhan Avagchuud (阿斯汗) made the bold move to remove all previously released albums from online, and re-record select tracks for the compilation Awakening from Dukkha (eventually, the band’s originally recordings resurfaced online).
Now, Nine Treasures have signed to Metal Blade Records to release their first original material since the 2019 single “Bodhicitta.” While we have yet to hear further details about the upcoming album, the band are still releasing stunning videos from the Awakening from Dukkha material.
