BITTER WINE Spread Their Iranian Blackened Death Metal to Armenia & Georgia

Hailing from Tehran in Iran, Bitter Wine consists of frontman Murray Arisch, guitarist Vahid Karimifard, bassist Amir Bonakdar (Ekwon), and Hosein Zahedi (Scox). While, we’ve previously covered the harsh treatments of metal bands from Iran, including Confess, Kaaboos, Out of Nowhere, One Missing Link, and Padra, it’s encouraging to watch the scene continue to strive to make the music they want to make, regardless of the governments inhumane and reactionary actions against valid expression.

Bitter Wine dropped their debut album In the Soleness of the Storm via The Hills are Dead Records a couple years back, sounding alike early Slayer meets late Death. More recently, the band toured to nearby countries Armenia and Georgia, playing at the Satanath Records Fest alongside Turkish doomers Yaşru, Russian death metal group Monastery Dead, Exileth from Armenia, local slam act Carnal Suffering, and more.

Watch Bitter Wine perform the demonic track “Spell of Bohemian” at Club Junkyard in Tbilisi, Georgia.
