Fronted by the iconic and dynamic Tatiana Shmayluk, Jinjer have been on a roll since “Pisces.” The Micro EP may be my personal favorite release, but Macro, Wallflowers, and Dúel are all consistently strong.
From Donetsk in Ukraine, the band’s most recent record Dúel came out earlier this year and is being fully embraced on their current live outings. Upon the Altar stage, Jinjer warmed the Hellfest crowd up for Whitechapel. Their set included new singles “Someone’s Daughter,” “Green Serpent,” and “Fast Draw,” as well as staples “I Speak Astronomy” or “Perennial.”
