Curious About Cannibalistic Russian Nü-Deathcore? Try APE ON THE ROCKET + FALSEGIVER

Once again, two Russian modern metal elites join forces to throw down some killer nü-deathcore. Ape on the Rocket hails from the Russian exclave oblast of Kaliningrad (disconnected from the Motherland and surrounded by Poland and Lithuania), while Falsegiver comes straight out of Yaroslavl – the historic city northeast of Moscow. The aforementioned acts previously teamed up for “Голод” (translated to “Hunger”), which I felt was a modern mix of Slipknot-meets-Emmure.

In their new collaborative single “Follower,” the two groups bring the intensity of King 810 or Alphawolf. The music video shows the band playing hatefully, a Richard Nixon-mask wearing villain, and human-meat burgers; it’s definitely an odd experience. Vocalists Sergey Filimonov (Ape on the Rocket) and Dmitry Karamyshev (Falsegiver) provide some sinister Russian growls in both a nü metal and deathcore style.
