We’ve talked about Manapart before, and of course, we’ve compared them to System of a Down before. The eccentric alt-metal group actually originated in St. Petersburg as a System of a Down cover band, but is now based in Armenia, often touring their heavy, political, and folk-fused shows back-and-forth between countries.
At their performance at 16 Tons Club in Moscow, Manapart performed “Monk Dance” complete with ethnic wind and percussion instrumentation. Artem Popov is as peculiar and playful as Serj Tankian’s, but arguably more pleasant. The twisted melodies, riot riffs, and folk fusion is killer.
It’s been far too long since we’ve had a new album from System of a Down, so it’s time to jump ship and embrace the band that are creating new music that’s borderline better. Enjoy Manapart – nü-metal with Armenian spice.
Idk bout better but they good
