From Guangzhou in the Guangdong Province of China, Horror of Pestilence (瘟疫之骇) are undoubtedly a gem deserving of more international attention in the modern metal landscape.
Just last year, the group released their third full-length album titled Surviving – including features by vocalists Kyle Schaefer (Fallujah) and Lee Mintz (Mithya, ex-Greylotus) as well as drummer Robin Stone (Ashen Horde, Norse).
The lead single “Naraku” will obviously draw comparisons to Lorna Shore or Shadow of Intent, but the rest of the tracklisting unearths progressive implementation alike Beyond Creation or early The Faceless. There’s also some exceptionally tasteful guitar leads on tracks like “Moon Bear” or “Ugly Life,” in addition to piano and orchestral versions of a few compositions.
