WITHIN CERES: Insane Progressive, Electronic Metalcore from Goa in India

Making gains in the Indian metal scene for a handful of years, Within Ceres‘ hard work is paying off. The Goa-based six-piece just dropped the 3-track titled Digital Deity – a perfect execution of modern metal.

Guitarist / producer Odin De Sa riffs through chunky and ethereal passages with a range of lush Erra or Sleep Token environments to Darko and The Dali Thundering Concept mercilessness all across this EP. Opening track “Gravity” boasts mesmerizing bass lines from Aaron Braganza, with a varied percussion workout by drummer Tanish Ganatra.

“Scars” dips into early Linkin Park territory, further proving how dynamic Within Ceres is capable of. Truly, a flawless balance of sing-along vocal hooks and moshpit crashout moments here.

The stand-out single is the title track – “Digital Deity.” The first time I listened to this song, I hit repeat five times. Keyboardist Naizian Fernandes is sneaking in industrial glitchy noises atop Kadesh Dsouza’s brass knuckle guitarwork; it’s like 2000’s Nine Inch Nails collaborated with Poppy and Northlane. Vocalist Arnold Carvalho killed it, and the electro-industrial djent breakdown was massive.
