While I’m certainly in favor of the lush post-black metal reaches lately, I still crave the shock factor and extreme aesthetics of the black metal scene. The Costa Rican project Dusk is convincingly the most provocative experiment in recent years.
Their recent videos include arson and large-scale explosions, a strangely fitting visual to be paired with such tortured Burzum-meets-Godflesh music. Enjoy their recent video for “Industrie III,” which leans more on the Author & Punisher or Skinny Puppy side.
Dusk‘s fifth full length, Industrie, will feature six title tracks and a cover of Mayhem‘s “Freezing Moon.” The full record will drop on May 21st.
